The District Factory-- Fun Fun Fun!

Craft+Art=FUN FUN FUN!
Last weekend, I was a guest host at the District Factory!   It was an evening filled with shopping and fun with dozens of emerging designers and artist.
 Can you find me in the photo??? I'm the one in orange!
Every second Saturday, The District Factory opens their doors for Art Gallery Walk!  From 7-10 p.m. you can view awesome designs at 3900 NE 1st Ave in the Design District!
I also had the chance to hang with Lifetime's "Project Accessory" Winner Brian Burkhardt

My work buddy-- Local 10 News WPLG Reporter/Fill-in Anchor Sasha Andrade made an appearance.
 So did WZDC Meterologist Denise Isaac--with her husband Mike!

I had a chance to visit with sister team Aria Nero-Deder and Deirdre Nero. They have a line of jewelry created to empower women who struggle with medical hair loss, espcially Alopecia Areata and cancer treatments. Watch out for the story on B.A.L.D Jewelry on Local 10 WPLG in the coming weeks!

Bigger is Better: Old Weight Gain Ads

Girls forget about being too skinny! Back in the day--it was all about the curves! Some of the most beautiful stars from the Fifties had soft, womanly shapes as opposed to the yoga toned bodies of the 2012.
These ads tout the fastest ways to “add pounds” and curves!  It's clear that being skinny was not the way to be!

Dennis Rodman, Tim Hardaway host a “Back to School Basketball Camp”

Kids can already hear the swoosh of the baskets from their favorite players who will be participating in the All- Star Basketball! Camp at the Michael-Ann Russell Jewish Community Center in North Miami Beach,  August 13th – 16th.  NBA greats Tim Hardaway, Mark Strickland, Dennis Rodman, Terrel Harris,and  special invited guests will interact and teach boys and girls ages 6 -17 years old the game of basketball including ball handling, triple threat, post moves,  rebounding, court spacing, passing and how important it is to work as a team.

“This interactive camp teaches fundamental basketball skills, sportsmanship and team concepts. The All-Star Basketball Camp emphasis is the importance of maintaining a positive attitude, staying in school and saying no to drugs and alcohol. These core values help enhance a sense of self confidence for these young souls” boasts Floyd Raglin, President of FSM, Floyd Sports Marketing and host of this interactive All-Star Camp experience.

All-Star Basketball Camp runs from 9:00am – 4:00pm on August 9th – 12th and kids will receive lunch daily, camp shirts, certificates, photographs, autographs, and awards ceremony. Boys and girls ages 8 -17 are welcomed. Fees for JCC members are $250 and non-JCC members $375 for this All-Star experience.

The Crafty Reporter- Special Guest Host

On the second Saturday of every month, an artsy fun event happens in the amazing Design District in downtown Miami.  The Design Factory along with yours truly- Constance Simmons "The Crafty Reporter" will host a meet and greet of dozens of emerging artists and designers!

The event is aimed at satisfying your creative appetite- with fresh ideas on art and design!  I will be there to support-- along with my artsy husband Troy Simmons.  

Celebrity Guest Lifetime's "Project Accessory" Winner Brian Burkhardt will be there to showcase his awesome designs!
 Have you seen his killer work.... OMG!




So be sure to come by-- visit with me and this weekend.

Women in the Media-- Featured on "The Other Side"




Recently, I was featured on The Other Side-- a show dedicated to bringing you the other side of Television, Film and Radio production.  The online series focuses on what does it take to become a filmmaker, a television host, a reporter, or to work behind the cameras.

This month's episode was focused on "Women in the Media."  I was interviewed along with CBS-WFOR News Anchor Shannon Hori.
