Creepy Viewer Mail.... The Joys of Being on TV.

Every job comes with its highs and lows.  For people on television, we have to deal with stalkers.  For the past 10 years, I’ve covered news from across the country. In every TV market I’ve worked in—there’s always been those “faithful viewers” who plague me with mail, emails and now Facebook messages.

During the holidays, I enjoy receiving Christmas Cards from viewers. But what really creeps me out—are handwritten letters from viewers.  One viewer proposed to me, another asked me the size of my feet.  Just weird!?!

And don’t get me started on Facebook!!!! It’s opened up a whole new world of creepiness.

Thankfully, I have a very protective husband that monitors all of my messages--lol!

Do you have any creepy stalkers?? What’s your story?

Holiday Traditions

As many of you know, I was born in Germany. My mother is German and my father is African American.  Well, I spent most of my childhood in the country, therefore we celebrated many of the traditions.
Every year, my mother got me an Advent calendar! It's a special calendar used to count down the days till Christmas!  The best ones--are filled with sweet German chocolate!
Another big holiday tradition is our Christmas Pyramid. In German it’s called Weihnachtspyramide.  It looks like a Christmas pyramid, decked out in flowers and wooden figurines. It’s kind of like a carousel with several levels showing some sort of holiday theme!

As in many other European countries, on the eve of Dec. 6th children place a shoe or boot by the fireplace. At night, St. Nicholas goes from house to house carrying goodies to fill the shoes with. If you were bad, your shoes were filled with coal or sticks. My coworker filled my shoe up with my favorite goodies, Red Bull!

What are you holiday traditions?

Fall Craft Tree

Take a look at this exciting Fall Craft Tree—a great project for kids at any age!
What you need:
  1. Old Puzzle Pieces (you can find a new puzzle at the Dollar Store
  2. Brown paper sack (or construction paper)
  3. Paint
  4. Glue

You start off by making the tree trunk by cutting strips of a brown paper bag or brown construction paper.  Here comes the fun part--scrunch the paper up to create texture for the tree. Glue the branches and trunk to the blue piece of paper.

For the leaves, use old puzzle pieces and glue them on the branches.  Feel free to paint the puzzle pieces beforehand if you want a specific color.
Have fun overlapping the pieces to give it more dimensions.

What a perfect Fall Craft for the kids! I found is project on www.IHeartCraftyThings.blogspot.com!  Special thanks to Rachel Nipper for allowing us to share this project!
