Make Your Own Bow!

Bows are a great accessory for any outfit!  Making a bow tie for yourself is much better than buying a new one!  There are some fun and easy steps you can follow to make your own amazing bow!  Special thanks to the Fashion Diva Design Blog for these great ideas!

1.       Find some fabric- The thicker the better! You don’t necessary have to go out and buy material. You can use denim jeans or an old dress!
2.       Cut the fabric into the shape of a rectangle. Normally 6 inches is good. The fabric will be folded over and bunched in the center.
3.       Create the Bow. Fold the fabric halfway.  Sew the three side remaining sides (if you want). Leave a little hole so you can turn the piece inside out—so you will not be able to see the stitches
4.       Make your bow. Find the center of the rectangle and push the top and the bottom of the fabric into a bow-like shape. Sew it down the middle to hold it in place. If you’d like to hide the stitching, sew a small band around the middle.
5.       Extras— You can use a rubber elastic at the back of the bow to secure it. Also a ribbon or button. Let your imagination run wild!

Night Owl Market Looking for Vendors

Looking for a place to sell your crafty goodies!  The Night Owl Market is searching for interesting vendors to displace crafts, art and other retro items at their next event January 26, 2013,

The best part of the event is that all the proceeds from the vendor fee and customer donations will go directly to Flager Garden. The Flagler Village Community Garden is set to open in the Spring of 2013!  The goal of the park is to promote urban gardening for recreation, education, food production and beautification. It’s also a place that will foster public awareness for the uses and values of gardening and other green spaces within the community.

Also—should we add that there will be free alcohol at that event! Need we say more!
Apply as soon as you can! We're booking as quick as possible!

I also had the chance to hang with Lifetime's "Project Accessory" Winner Brian Burkhardt.

My work buddy-- Local 10 News WPLG Reporter/Fill-in Anchor Sasha Andrade made an appearance.
So did WZDC Meterologist Denise Isaac--with her husband Mike!
Rocking the Yellow!
I had a chance to visit with sister team Aria Nero-Deder and Deirdre Nero. They have a line of jewelry created to empower women who struggle with medical hair loss, espcially Alopecia Areata and cancer treatments. Watch out for the story on B.A.L.D Jewelry on Local 10 WPLG in the coming weeks!

Beach Craft Fun

With these warm summer temperatures, many of us are heading to the beach to cool off. This is the ultimate beach craft for your kids! I found this wonderful crafting idea on BeautyandBedlam.com!  All you need is Plaster of Paris to make these fun imprints with your kids.

1.       Have your child press his/her hand or feet into damp sand, making a 2-inch-deep impression.
2.Put treasures pretty side down (shells, rocks, pretty rock glass) in your impression. Make sure you don’t push them too hard into the sand.

3.Mix the Plaster of Paris. Make sure it is nice and thick and creamy.
4.Carefully pour the plaster into the inlay of the print.

4. Let the plaster set until it’s hard – approximately one hour. To remove the print, carefully dig out the sand from around/underneath the plaster.

Melted Crayon Art

So, this is an amazing idea I found on Pinterest a few weeks ago! It’s one of the most interesting and simplest crafts I’ve seen. A beautiful work of art can be created in less than 15 minutes, for less than $10!

Get a box of 64 crayons and take all the blacks and browns out.  Use another box of crayons and double up all the bright colors! Then, using a hot glue gun, glue the crayons to the top of a canvas.  Then, turn your blow dryer up to hot and blow on the crayons.
Within seconds, the wax will begin to melt and you will have a beautiful and creative piece of art!

Special thanks to Meg Duerksen who shared this great idea on her blog at megduerksen.typepad.com.
