Bigger is Better: Old Weight Gain Ads

Girls forget about being too skinny! Back in the day--it was all about the curves! Some of the most beautiful stars from the Fifties had soft, womanly shapes as opposed to the yoga toned bodies of the 2012.
These ads tout the fastest ways to “add pounds” and curves!  It's clear that being skinny was not the way to be!
Why do you think the image of beauty changed?
Special thanks to FB Page--Will Work for Cheese for sharing these images! the image.

Shave The Stache

I am 35, single and looking for a man. There is only one problem-- my mustache. For years, my mustache has been a nightmare for me. When I was 25 years old, I decided I had enough of the unwanted hair. So, I walked into a spa and had it waxed off. Of course it was a change for me. I looked like I just got out of jail. You know that clean shaved look.
Since I was a child-- I have dealing with unwanted facial hair. Nairing, plucking, threading and waxing became a part of my daily routine. Threading--left me bleeding. Waxing-- left me with bumps!
I finally decided to try laser hair removal. Laser hair removal is supposed to be a permit removal of hair. I do six treatments, once a month with a cost of $130. It doesn't hurt, just feels like little pinches. We will have to wait to see if this works!

Do you have any hair removal remedies?

Eye Shadow Madness

Written by Talitha Haynes, Guest Blogger

When it’s time for Date Night or Girl’s Night Out—you have to look your best!  Your hair has to be perfect, you have to wear your best outfit and of course you can’t forget the makeup!  For me, it’s the most important element to finishing my look.
For years, my favorite cosmetic store has always been MAC. They offer some of the best colors with great pigments. The blushes, foundations, lip glosses, lipsticks and the primers are all awesome. The only negative is the price $$$. So, I set out to find a similar product for a cheaper price.

On my hunt, I found a cosmetic store named Inglot,  They have this great deal called the  “Freedom System”-- that gives you the option to create your own palette. You can mix and match your eye shadows to create the perfect palette.  They also feature concealer, blush, body glitter, nail polish and lipstick. The “Freedom System” only cost $29 or four shadows! Their lip and eyeliner cost $11 and individual shadow $12. Inglot has great colors and very pigmented. I recommend you check it out for yourself.

Do you have any cheap makeup suggestions?

Daddy Did My Hair!

When mama isn’t around, Sam (my co-worker/buddy) is left to do his daughter’s hair alone! Dani has beautiful thick curly hair- that can be difficult to style.
Sam tried to braid her hair, but his big clumsy hands simply needed some help!

Not many fathers can take on the task of attempting to braid or twist their daughter's hair. Those who do, often fail. Hair is seen as a sign of beauty for most women, so it's important to impress on girls how pretty their hair is early on.  Here are a few simple tips for dads!

1.    Wet Hair- It’s easier to comb through her hair as soon as it’s washed!  Use hair-detangler if necessary. Don’t wait for the hair to dry to try and comb it out! Also use a comb not a brush!
2.    Ponytails/Pigtails- Pull all of the hair into one hand, then smooth out the sides. Then use a scrunchie and elastic to wrap around the hair. If going for the pigtail look, part the hair into several sections with the comb.
3.    Braids- Depending on the texture of the hair, you may need to braid down—when doing it. Sam clearly braided Dani’s hair while standing up—hence the gravity defying braids.

Makeup Advice from Mama!

You COULD never guess my mother’s age by looking at this picture!
Here’s a hint—her oldest daughter is her late 30’s. J

My mom credits her youthful appearance to GOOD makeup!
Not the cheap stuff. She doesn’t cut corners when it comes to skin care!

She goes straight to the Elizabeth Arden Makeup Counter for her foundation and buys Flawless Finish Sponge-On Cream Makeup! It covers wonderfully and does not feel heavy.

ALSO-Free Gifts!
My mom also says the best time to buy during the Free Gift w/purchase event.
Elizabeth Arden gives you:
a full size lipstick
compact case of either eye shadow, blush/bronzer
sometimes small bottle of perfume
various sample sizes of cleansers
creams and special treatments (love those for travel, or just to try out)

Final words of advice- develop a relationship with your makeup representative.
Oftentimes, they will go out of their way to help you out.
