FINALLY! Apple's New Diverse Emoji Characters

 

FINALLY FINALLY FINALLY!  Last year, Apple promised to increase the diversity of its emoji keyboard and now it's finally here. The company is rolling out with 300 new emojis including tiny cartoon people in 6 different skin tones.

Several months ago, I posted a picture of my family saying, "We Need Mixed Family Emojis." Some of my friends made comments, saying we should "Start A Movement!"

 

Kudos to Apple for thinking of families like mine!  "Apple supports and cares deeply about diversity, and is working with The Unicode Consortium to update the standard so that it better represents diversity for all of us," said an Apple spokesperson.

 

According to Apple, they came up with the expanded list of skin tones by consulting with dermatologists to classify different types of skin.  Apple is also adding 32 new country flags.
