Night Owl Market Looking for Vendors

Looking for a place to sell your crafty goodies!  The Night Owl Market is searching for interesting vendors to displace crafts, art and other retro items at their next event January 26, 2013,

The best part of the event is that all the proceeds from the vendor fee and customer donations will go directly to Flager Garden. The Flagler Village Community Garden is set to open in the Spring of 2013!  The goal of the park is to promote urban gardening for recreation, education, food production and beautification. It’s also a place that will foster public awareness for the uses and values of gardening and other green spaces within the community.

Also—should we add that there will be free alcohol at that event! Need we say more!
Apply as soon as you can! We're booking as quick as possible!

Calling All Crafters

Vendor space is now open for those who want to sell their handmade goodies!  On June 24th, sellers can set up shop at the Pompano Beach City Wide Market from 10a.m. to 4 p.m.   The flea market “like” event is like a party atmosphere with music and food also available for those who plan to attend.

The City-Wide market is unlike any other flea market in South Florida. It’s a huge monthly event with over 80 vendors.  The events will focus on unique and locally made products.
There will also be several vintage and retro goodies, collectibles and second hand items.

Handmade Movement in South Florida

My "Handmade Movement" story just aired on Local 10 News WPLG-ABC in Miami/Ft. Lauderdale. In the story, I talk about the marriage between "do-it-yourself" crafters and the punk culture.

Here's a snippet from my online article.

“South Florida crafters and artisans are cashing in on their skills by selling what they make by hand. Once a month, promoters with the Indie Craft Bazaar host a craft show in Broward County. Last month, the event was held at Revolution Live, a concert venue in downtown Fort Lauderdale. Instead of needlepoint samplers, there are ceramic skulls, hand-stitched iPad covers and binders made out of duct tape.

Covering the “Handmade Movement”

What an awesome assignment!
Last weekend—I got a chance to cover the Indie Craft Bazaar- “Spring Fling 2012” for WPLG- Local 10 News.  It’s all a part of a of a new section on the station website called “Crafty Constance.”
Today’s crafters are no longer crocheting your grandmother’s doilies. Instead, they are a part of a growing group of artists using crafts to express themselves!  South Florida has a wonderful community of “do-it- yourselfers”—who are embracing this handmade movement.
Here are some pictures from the great event! See the complete slide show by clicking here!
Expect my full story in a few weeks-on Local 10 News!

Indie Craft Bazaar "Sew in Love"

Skip the mall and support handmade! That’s my motto!
This weekend-- I was in “Handmade Paradise”—surrounded by dozens of vendors at the Indie Craft Bazaar- “Sew in Love.” The event was held in the concert venue- Revolution Live in downtown Fort Lauderdale!
To say the least—I was overwhelmed by the number of crafters in our area! So many unique treasures at every corner!
One of the favorite vendors was Migdalia Pace with www.Recyclemybag.com.  Midgalia recycles clothes and reclaimed fabrics into hot chic bags! Each bag has one of her signature fashion drawings printed directly on the fabric!  It’s truly amazing and unique work!
Special thanks to Amanda Weiner for the awesome show! J
