Kontempo Art Gallery Night--Featuring Troy Simmons

There's nothing like this anywhere--the new works by Troy Simmons (my hubby)!  He is truly revolutionary, capturing the harshness of humanity mixed with the softness of nature. It’s a complex theme echoed in his sculptures and concrete paintings.

This Saturday, Kontempo Art Gallery in Miami is hosting a grand opening on Calle Ocho.

Come see a few of the new pieces by Troy!--There will also be other amazing artists.  The art gallery features sculptures, paintings and mixed media pieces.

The Handlebar Club

Only a few men can pull this look off the "Handlebar Mustache." Well, my artistic husband Troy Simmons is always looking for a new way to express his creative self!  Here's a candid shot of hubby--rocking the 'stache and one of my crochet beanies from Huggabeans Crochet Creations!

After a few weeks of growing his hair, it was finally long enough to curl.  To create the perfect look- it takes some patience. The delicate process takes Troy sometimes 15 minutes to achieve. You have to “train the hair” to grow out sideways in order to achieve the more traditional shape. A little bit of mustache wax also keeps the hair in place.

I’m hoping his stache doesn’t grow like this!

Magic Johnson--Loving Miami Art

The artwork of Troy Simmons (my hubby) is truly revolutionary, capturing the harshness of humanity mixed with the softness of nature. It’s a complex theme echoed in his sculptures and wall mounts.

His innovative approach in using paints, wood and cement caught the attention of a brand new television network Aspire.  Retired NBA player and business mogul Earvin “Magic” Johnson has teamed up with Comcast to launch his own 24-hour cable television network targeted at African-Americans.  It’s the first of an expected ten minority-targeted networks to be developed over the next decade. 

Last week, a team of producers and photographers traveled to Miami to interview my husband for the network. Expect to see his great artwork on Aspire in the near future!
